Welcome to Andalucia! It’s a large area, and has the largest number of inhabitants of any region in Spain. Andalucia includes 8 different provinces: Huelva, Seville, Cadiz, Jaen, Cordoba, Granada, Almeria, and, of course, Malaga! We are based in Malaga province, and that is right in the middle of the Costa Del Sol.
The area we cover is the Guadalhorce valley and the surrounding areas. It is a well populated area, and is separated from the coastal areas by mountains, and also is bordered on all sides by more mountains. As a result, it has it’s own micro climate, and is a fertile area with a wide variety of crops being grown. The main towns in the valley are Cartama, Coin and the white village of Alhaurin el Grande. The smaller villages of Alora and Pizarra are also in the valley, and easily reached.
Further out are the popular inland towns and cities of Ronda, Seville, Granada, and the coastal resorts of Marbella, Estepona, Benalmadena and, of course, Malaga itself. Here in Alhaurin el Grande, we are just 20 minutes from Malaga airport and city, and the same distance from the sea at La Cala de Mijas. The popular tourist village of Mijas is just 10 minutes away, and Gibraltar is only 90 minutes drive.
It seems strange that in a few minutes you can be by the sea, or you can stay at home and bask in the sun, or you can drive for an hour and a half and go skiing in the winter season. There is so much to do and see, and Morocco is so close that you can see it from the coast. Did you know that this area is further south than some parts of the north coast of Africa?
North from here is El Chorro gorge, a very famous area of lakes and mountains. The Camino del Rey, the King’s Walk, is world famous, and if you would like to go rock climbing, this is the place to go! This area was the location for the famous film, Von Ryan’s Express, filmed there in 1965.
Alhaurin el Grande and the surrounding areas is a wonderful place to live, and our website will show you a selection of properties which are available here. If you would like further information about the area, please contact us!
We look forward to welcoming you!
